      Oatmeal Rolls
Submitted by kathyfromkansas on November 19, 2009 at 12:57 pm

This is my "go to" roll recipe just because everyone likes it so well. I found the recipe about 10 years ago in one of those church cookbooks.

      1 cup oatmeal
      2 cups water
      3 T. butter
      2/3 cup brown sugar
      1 T. sugar
      1 1/2 t. salt
      2 packages active yeast
      1/2 cup warm water
      5 cups flour

Mix oatmeal, water & butter and boil for 3 minutes. Add brown sugar, reg. sugar and salt Cool.

Disolve yeast in warm water; proof.
Add yeast to cooled oatmeal mixture.
Add flour one cup at a time.

      Let rise 1 hour, covered.

Shape into rolls. (The original recipe says makes 24 rolls. I make about 16-18 larger rolls) Place on greased half sheet pan (I use parchment) let rise for 1 hour.

Bake 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

      Spread the word
