I’ve been having some issues getting to the website. For my last post, I tried to get here four times before I finally did. I would get those “oops, [SITE] cannot be found” messages.
Also happened twice recently when I tried to post an item, it went to that message. When I got back to the site, my message was gone, and I had to type it again. I have now taken to copying what I write so that if it happens, I don’t have to write it all over again. I’d had this happen occasionally for a while, but not usually so close together.
I don’t know if the issue is with my computer or with the site, so I’m reporting it to you in case others are having this issue.0September 17, 2016 at 3:01 pm #4761
That has not happened to me but I do frequently get a ‘Site took too long to respond’ page. It often just keeps spinning awhile and finally comes up. A couple of times I had to click the Refresh button and it came up eventually. I figured it is my slow connection as I never have paid the bigger price to get a fast speed after the fiber optics installation hook-up in January.1+September 17, 2016 at 3:46 pm #4763
I think I’ve got some network congestion issues on my DSL connection. I’m working on setting up a network analyzer to see if I can figure out what’s causing it.0September 17, 2016 at 9:01 pm #4768
I noticed it, too, Mike, that it was running really slow last week. Hopefully it’s just a simple fix.0September 18, 2016 at 4:47 am #4773
I’ve had it a couple of times as well. More often very slow loading, fewer times that the server won’t respond. I hope this helps you pinpoint it1+September 19, 2016 at 11:51 am #4789
I tried shutting down most of my in-house network for about a half hour last night, response time seemed pretty good during that time and even afterwards, though I had problems accessing MNK remotely a few minutes ago.
I just did some software upgrades on the MNK server, not sure if they’ll make any difference.
I also had to delete some spam from Poland that got through this morning, and I kicked about a half dozen subscribers from Poland off the site.
I’m thinking I may need to upgrade my firewall server to put the latest network analyzer tools on it, but upgrading the firewall may itself change the nature of the problem (in either direction!) and is a task that will probably take 4-6 hours at a minimum.

Sigh. I just had a reply to the vanilla thread vanish. I didn’t copy that one. So, the problem is still there, and it took me three tries to get back into the site. I think the regulars here will be persistent in re-trying until we get in. Newcomers may be more daunted.0September 20, 2016 at 12:39 pm #4801
I’m calling in the Pro from Dover on the network stuff, having my older son look at it, since that’s much more his area of expertise than mine.0September 21, 2016 at 9:06 am #4814
My son found and corrected an issue with our firewall server last night, whether that will have an impact on the access problems remains to be seen, though things seem to be working pretty well this morning.0September 21, 2016 at 11:29 am #4815
For the first time in a while, I got in on my first try. Here’s to it continuing. Many thanks to your son.0September 23, 2016 at 7:38 pm #4842
I also had problems accessing the site. Since you worked with your son, Mike, I haven’t had a problem. Thanks to both of you.0
