BakerAunt asked in another thread what can be done to increase buzz (and site traffic) at My Nebraska Kitchen.
It’s a question I’ve thought about several times over the past year. I wasn’t planning on launching this site until after I retired, but the surprise demise of the KAF BC changed the timeline, we needed a new home lest we lose the community completely.
The KAF BC had a built-in traffic generator from their webstore, blog and recipe collection.
The blog here hasn’t been as active as it should be, and the recipe collection, while it has around 2300 recipes, could stand better organization, searching capabilities, and other things. Those are all on my plate, and I’m hoping to tackle a site reorganization later this year, probably in the fall.
I also should probably get more active on other social media and see if that can help build traffic, but I’ve just never gotten into Facebook and the social media thing.
In the mean time, what can others do to help build traffic? Keep opening threads about interesting things about food and things to make in the kitchen, posing questions about baking and cooking for others to answer. Post additional recipes, too, of course.
Since we don’t currently have an advertising stream, buying ad space or priority in search engine queries probably isn’t economically feasible.
So, we’ll just have to get bigger by getting better.
